Agas & Tamar are launching a new collection inspired by nails. The new designs tell a unique story about the transformation of nondescript, everyday objects into captivating, valuable jewelry with a strong presence and powerful emotional impact.
"Nails", the new collection from the Agas & Tamar jewelry brand for the summer and spring seasons of 2014, is a direct product of Einat Agasi's and Tamar Harel-Klein's passion for searching after materials that carry unique stories. Having chosen nails as the source of inspiration for the collection in terms of both design and concept, the two designers embarked on a journey of artistic research that explored both past and present, which resulted in a new future of their own making.
"To us, nails symbolize the story of home", they say, "it is a story about family, about hands, about a past the nails have carried with them for years. Then, at the same time, we thought about contemporary Pinterest culture, about the virtual use of nails and thumbtacks, about how, today, they represent choice and personal preference, allowing everyone to collect the things they want and love and to attribute them to themselves."
The nail itself is both present and absent in the collection. Though not always featured in the jewelry itself, its presence is felt in each piece; it is evident in its mark, its silhouette or the use of the technique. The final result is the subtle and sensitive transformation of a barely noticeable, everyday element we usually ignore into an original jewel of high sentimental value.
